OT: Barbie question

Dear CandiChatters, I am searching for certain Barbie bodies: jointed at the elbows, at the knees, with high-heeled feet and not have the rubbery legs. Ideally, I DO NOT want painted on panties. So far, I have found only the Horse Riding Barbies from 1999 (or 1998?) and Hollywood Nails Barbies the best candidates. Do any of you know what other line of Barbies made before 2000 that would meet my criteria? Thanks for the help. Regards, pat Brown

Dear CandiChatters, Since I've been defining my doll collection lately, I have been buying nude Barbies at the Goodwill for $2.50 each. I've been looking for interesting faces and especially those wonderful "Horse Riding Barbie" bodies from the late 90s (to no avail). The faces that have intrigued me the most have been found on the newer Barbie bodies--which I have come to detest. I love the hand sculpt but they're a bear to get long sleeves over those extended fingers. Furthermore, I loathe the wimpy bust line. These dolls look like they're suffering from anorexia nervosa. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned. Maybe it's because I'm a busty wench myself. But these bodies have got to go. I am not buying any more and the 6 I've got are too many. And while I like the facial screening on these dolls, what's with the hairstyle? Long, straight hair and more long straight hair. Boring. So maybe someone can use the heads for rerooting. I have about 6 of these dolls and I chose the nicest bodies and faces, $2.25 each, shipping and insurance extra. Face ONE: has excellent potential for a member of the Addams Family. She has the most depressing dark halo around her eyes and even pinkish, purple screening in her nostrils. Doll has long straight, brown hair. I think she's a Teresa. Has immovable waist. Face TWO: nice face with silver-frosted lips. Long, straight brown hair. I think she's a Teresa. Has rubbery, movable waist. Face THREE: African American with long, straight black hair. Immovable waist. Face FOUR: platinum blonde, long, straight hair, immovable waist. Face FIVE: wheat-colored blonde, long, straight hair, immovable waist, and STUPID, stupid, painted-on panties. I've started with the process of taking acetone to the painted panties and will finish the job if you'll get this doll out of hair. Face SIX: this is such a cool doll. Remember Tiffany Taylor dolls with the twisty scalp that changed the hair color? The long, straight hair is purple on one side and silvery platinum on the other. Her head just seems "smaller" in comparison to the other heads and definitely smaller in comparison to older Barbie heads. But she's fun. Her waist is movable. Any takers? MC HAMMER fashion--turquoise blue pants (not as baggy as his typical harem pants), matching tuxedo-styled jacked and hot pink cumberbund--$8 NRFB, there's mildew on the tape that holds the shoes to the card and spots on the underside of the acetate front. This is not the black mildew you find in the bathroom. It's not destroying anything, it's just obvious. I think Candi would insist on a wardrobe update for MC. OT CU show & then a question

I went to the Cu doll show in Marietta Ga this past Sat. It was wonderful, I found all kinds of things I 'needed' . I found one of the new Brenda Starr dolls that Tonner redesigned & she reminds me a lot of Tyler Wentworth doll & I hope can wear her clothes..mine is the one in the polka dot swim outfit & she was $45 . I also got one of the Tonner 's jointed TW dolls that has the very curly blonde hair , dressed in white cotton underwear & called Sport Tyler, I think ...for just $35 & I know this is a good price..love that hair. When I brought her home, I dressed her in the long pink outfit I also bought & sat her in a gilded chair I have & she looks so neat, One sales lady took off a Tyler outfit from a doll she had on display..it's that pretty pink one with the long taffeta like skirt & a pink sweater set,... second issue in that the beads on the sweater aren't just pink but a mix of lt. brown, pink & white which makes them more visible..& let me have it cheaper than usual. There's also a woman there who redesigns dolls & sells their outfits very cheaply but they're usually missing something ..I got Tyler's long , slim, silvery gray eve. dress with the stole & roses but minus shoes & jewelry for- $10. & I got 2 nude Gene dolls whose face paint had been removed & so are faceless, for $5 each . Plus found a set of Darci & Erica dolls, this last one I've been looking for forever...for $20 for them both. And for $2, a bag of stuff that including a 70's Skipper dress but the real find in there was from the Barbie old store display from about the 80's..has the white plastic , non colored, bust of Barbie, that hats are to be displayed on & a white. plastic hand that jewelry was supposed to be displayed from plus a mirror & other display items that all sat ontop of the Barbie display cases ..now & then I come across a display case in the thrift store but you never find these display pieces that afix to the top of the cases. I got a mint set of Midge wigs for $75. Also Charles Joseph designed these neat little wigs in all colors & sizes to fit, Barbie, Tyler, & Cissy I think. & got one of those for Barbie, a short Red number. I got the 35th Annivers. Ken in black...almost missed out on getting him...I really wanted that mini Ken that comes in with his little box. I got a Modern Circle Barbie for $25 , she was selling more expensively than the other 3 Mod. Circle friends which you could get for just $15. Got doll stands , 12 for $11 , good price. But my question is, does any one know how to remove the vintage Midge wigs which have melted into the stands. Think putting them in the freezer would help? Maybe close to a source of heat? They won't just pop off unfortunatly thanks Pat H.
