I did a minimum of research and found a blurb at Sandi Holder's site that collectors had not been happy with the first issue and tha "Mattel does listen to its customers." I guess the hair is straighter and longer and doesn't look like the pageboy that an orignal bendleg Barbie would've had. And the vintage dos definitely had a tighter curl on the ends than what the repro has. But clever Candi makeover artists should have no problem getting the look they would want out of this doll, if not satisfied with the first issue's look. Unfortunately, just extra work... ----- Original Message ----- From: Bradford ebradfrd@crosslink.net To: Queen Diva lpsnhps@cybernex.net; Pat Brown nqsqurtz@staffnet.com; CandiChat candichat@dolls.de Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 11:00 AM Subject: Re: Need to find non-Candi doll
I think I heard that they were & wondered why?! Glad you are better & back to chatting. As for Leanne, try barbiebrat@home.com. It may be an old one, but it may be valid. Melissa
Interesting thread as I have just received this doll as a holiday gift. Something definitely doesn't look "copastetic" about her 'do. Is this
one
of the dolls that Mattel was replacing heads for if collectors were
unhappy.
Maybe it just got squished in shipping, but something about the hair
isn't
right. Also, I've lost Leanne V. email addy. Can someone kindly send it to me
or
ask her to get in touch with me--nothings wrong just want to say hi. And by the way HI TO EVERYONE, I've been away due to illness but I'm
back
now. May we all have a safe and Happy New Years! Hugs, CarolM/Queendiva/lpsnhps@cybernex.net
Thanks for the immediate link to the auction site. Judging by what I
saw,
the doll and the illustration on the box have the same "loose" pageboy
so
I
still can't get a handle on why or what's the need for the so-called
curly
look at all. Regards, Pat
