A very, very long time ago, I don't remember who or when, did someone say that Hamilton was being sued for use of the Bettie Page image without permission of the "living doll"? Bettie Page is still alive, isn't she? And even if she's not, Hamilton would have to pay for the rights to the living family for using the Bettie Page name and images--correct? Hamilton Toys wouldn't try to get away with not getting permission after all that has been learned from legal experiences with Paul David--correct?
This rumor isn't true is it? And I emphasize rumor--what I think I've heard in the distant past does not make for confirmed truth. Regards, Pat Brown ----- Original Message ----- From: Rene O'Brien renendollz@yahoo.com To: candichat@dolls.de Sent: Saturday, July 27, 2002 1:57 PM Subject: Bettie
HI all, I just found this pic of the "real" bettie doll that is out(?) now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1369442239
She looks horrible! The hair is way too long(unlike the proto pic), her face looks like the Baggie Bettie doll not the "original" prettier one, the blouse looks VERY ill fitting, and where did her belt go? Box looks flimsy too. Gee why are the Hamilton dolls always so much inferior? If those horrible vintage fashions are any indication of what the Betties are like(which it seems), I will not be buying any. For a few dollars more I rather get a Fashion Forward Candi which is on a whole different level in quality and design.
