Yes it does (I recently repackaged a new wersion for Gentoo and tested it on amd64). There doesn't seem to be anything special, just follow the instructions. You can also take a look at the ebuild, http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/dev-lang/gpc/gpc-20040516.ebuild which essentially contains all the steps to build and install it..
