You don't say what platform. For example, if it's DOS/DJGPP, Maurice has the most recent/stable build for this available via : ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/home/maurice/gpc2953b.zip

The alpha versions are already more stable than the last non-alpha release, since the latter are rather old, and the former are approaching the next 2.1 release.
