According to Orlando Llanes:
Is there a Char type that is guaranteed to be 16-bits from now until
infinity? Is there a Char type that is guaranteed to be 8-bits from now until infinity? Does GPC/DJGPP support the Unicode character type?
No(t yet).
You can work around this by using 8-bit and 16-bit integers:
Type Char8bit = Cardinal ( 8 ); Char16bit = Cardinal ( 16 );
These are guaranteed to be 8/16-bit from now until "infinity" - whenever that will be. ;-)
Some "wide char" (Unicode) fragments already exist in GPC. If somebody wants to take part in implementing such things (and others), be welcome.
