New Album of pics to share...

Hello all... I have just set up a photo album of some OOAK dresses that I have bought off e-Bay. They are mostly modeled by Candis...with some Charice, Alysa and Janay(...and a few assorted Barbies). The seller: "kellyannmo" is one of my favourites...all of her work is hand-sewn and her sewing and attention to detail is fantastic! Lately, she has been making a lot of ensembles for Silkstone Barbies (which I have none of)which are very beautiful! OT: ebay-barrysdolls

Hello, Does anyone have any experience with this person on ebay? "barrysdolls"? I recently had a bad experience with someone who seemed to have great prices and never got the item. It's just a feeling I have. Yet his feedback is 2500 with a few neutrals and/or negative. I asked him for his address and phone and this was the reply I got....does this seem suspicious? < It’s probably best that you bid for the doll. I have only a few left and I haven’t any idea what its real value is. I’d be happy to provide you with our address, but in as much as we’re an internet based mail order company who only accepts payments through PayPal, our customers haven’t really a need for it. Our phones are tied up with internet connections all day so I don’t think anyone would get through by phone. > Thanks....Crystal

Yue Sai Wa Wa and Malibu Barbie

Hi! I had been looking at the Yue Sai Wa Wa dolls in KB for a while now. I remember some of you bought them online and from QVC a while back. I had resisted the urge to purchase them because I wasn't very fond of the bodies. Well, I was in TRU and they had several really pretty versions of the doll and I broke down and bought one and then put her on a Barbie belly button body. I love the doll. I think that the face really captures a look that no other doll has captured before. Actually, I have a friend from Japan who I think is so cute (I haven't ever gotten over how darling she is) and this doll looks so much like her. I'll share pictures when I find an outfit that I like on her. BTW, has anybody seen or bought the Malibu repro? I've never been fond of the original Malibu Barbie but I am tempted to buy the repro. I think she would look good with a short flip do. I'd love to hear reviews on the Malibu Barbie! Randall

I really enjoy seeing the pics of everyone's collections. I always take a minute to peek during breaks I take, even though I don't always have the time to post a response. Candi giftset

HI ya'll, Since we've been talkin about the new Candi gift Sets by Hamilton, I thought it might be of interest to you that theres quite a lot of discussion going on about these on Vicky's BBS. http://www.xynadra.com/bbs/barbie/messages/199427.html http://www.xynadra.com/bbs/barbie/messages/199355.html http://www.xynadra.com/bbs/barbie/messages/199350.html The general opinion on these are that they are complete rip-offs(like the older Retro Candi series) of exsisting Barbie dolls, in this case, the Silkstone. In fact, it looks like in the proto pics a lot of items came DIRECTLY from the Mattel sets w/ out any modification(ie. the shoes, and the purses and accessories). What baffles me is that Integrity is doing such an outstanding job of giving Candi a new image and I see what Hamilton/PD is doing is going to piss a lot of people off(and has already done so, it appears!)and in term turn A LOT of people away from Candi. This is quite the interesting subject. And also none of the Integrity dealers seem to associate themselves with the Hamilton lines. What are your thoughts on this? Old Alyssa FS

Hi All, Was at a garage sale yesterday, and picked up an older Alyssa ( dated 1996) still in the box. It is a Hair Highlights one. Shes comes in a pink metalic outfit, and has yellow and pink streaks in her hair, and lots of hair play toys. I was going to use her as a redo doll, but thought maybe someone would need her for their collection, so decided to check first. Her box is pretty trashed, but is still there. Certainly Candi isn't going to fall back into old patterns ... Let's face it, even though we may have Helena to thank for the original candi (who liked her anyhow?), everything that we know and love about Candi was brought about by people other than Helena. I didn't mind the Retro fashions. I felt as though they were inspired by vintage Barbie fashions. Certainly vintage Barbie fashions are classic enough that we can draw inspiration from them, right? I think that knocking off a new concept is different that being inspired by something. Randall
