Welcome Newbies!
We're glad to have you join us. This group has some amazingly talented people, some who share photos of their doll makeovers, others who share photos of their fabulous dolly collections, many who provide hints and info about doll deals, and others who give us exciting news about new arrivals. It's a great place to come for doll lovers. I'm not so much a doll collector as I am a doll player. I debox everything! lol And there is no such thing as too many clothes! lol Recently I've gotten into accessories and wherever I go I'm always scanning for potential miniatures. Elizabeth, you said looking at your dolls calmed you. I'd never thought about that before, but I think I get the same type of pleasure from my dolls. Hey group, I've never shared any photos before because I can't compete with the incredible talent here, but I've had so much fun with accessories lately I hope you'll take a look at the photo on my site and let me know what you think.
Regards, Robin

Hi Robin and thanks for the welcome.
I just checked your pic and what a great pic! I love that office set-up! I'm afraid I'm not one of those talented people who can customise or sew. I'm a de-boxer too (with a few exceptions) and the only thing I'm good at is re-dressing the dollies. LOL

Robin, great scene.! Was that set originally the usual Pepto Bismo pink & you repainted the furniture,,,, if so ,good idea! what did you use to paint with, the same stuff to paint model car kits or reg. craft acryllic? Where did you get the window? thanks I like to do this stuff too, I can't sew. Pat H. in Al.
Thanks Pat, Yes, it was originally pepto pink... yuk! (I've never been part of the "pink movement" lol) I experimented with both craft acrylic and model car paints. Air-painting produces a better finish on large pieces than brushed on paint, so I used craft acrylic because it was available in inexpensive cans and I needed 2-3 coats to cover the pepto pink. But the model car paint adheres better to plastic, and I used that on my small pieces. I might invest in an airbrush gun so I can use model car paints in an economical fashion. I got the window frame at a craft store and attached my own city scene to the back (it was in the aisle with unfinished wood shapes, probably for doll house projects). These days I can't go anywhere without thinking "accessory potential" in order to house my gals, and sometimes forget what I had originally gone into the store for. lol Robin Pat Hawkins jhawkins1320@charter.net wrote: Robin, great scene.! Robin you're right,.... everybody, look closely at those so called Xmas orn. out now, some can be used for you scenes. I've seen tea sets on trays, little food groupings, Barbie & Candi size dress dummies ( with a Xmas dress on them ) & also a larger Gene sized one...a leopard skin covered couch...Gene sized & Barbie sized hats & purses. Fancy things made of crystals & globe-like beads that can be used as formal chandeliers. Just give it all a 2nd look & think doll instead of Xmas tree ......... esp. after Xmas when it goes on 1/2 priced sale. I have all my mom's Xmas jewelry which she loved & bought tons of it ....lots of it are those cheapy things you can get for a dollar or 2 esp. on sale . (some tiny earrings of any kind ,can be used as doll jewels ). I don't have pierced ears as she did , so I've used the dozens of these earrings as mini orn. for my mini Barbie & Candi Xmas tree. It's a way of using them ( my Dil can only wear the 'good' jewelry with stainless or gold backings) & reminds me of my mom ( she died earlier this year ). Pat H. in Al.

Pat,
Those are some great suggestions! I am going to do just that...not for me necessarily, but my daughter. She has FINALLY gotten into the more elaborate doll-playing (and she's taking care of their hair, too! LOL)
BTW- I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Pat...

Thanks Silvana, She was my first Candi, the one that started my craze. She's Bette Paige, the one that came in the red teddy and black stockings. I altered her hair a little to frame her beautiful face. Maybe that's why you didn't recognize her. Robin Silvana Baroffio s.baroffio@bluewin.ch wrote: Hi Robin,
