It's incredibly rare that I get excited about a Barbie, so I want to

share.

A friend of mine found me a Princess of South Africa Barbie. I had been looking for a month now ... they sold out quickly around here and I wasn't able to find one. I LOVE this doll. Of course, when she arrived at my house I immediately deboxed her and changed her clothes. She is now wearing a black mini-dress (courtesy Posh Spice) and black pointed toe shoes (courtesy Silkstone Barbie). I knew I would want to redress her in modern fashion rather than her

original

ethnic ensemble. If you all are into black dolls then you must check her out! She is incredibly and delightfully exotic! The only downside is I was hoping she would be on the new BB body but she

is

on the Shani body. Oh well, I still think she is great!

Randall, I just love your description of your new find. Funnily enough, I spent my lunch hour today at Randall's Toy Store in Pittsburgh (not your regular K-Mart). They had the doll you describe and I picked her up off the shelf a couple of times but managed to stick to my resolution not to buy anything for a while. Her sculpt is wonderful, I was so impressed by her. What do you mean about the body types. My new Bond female doll has a wonderful body, belly button, no joint at the waist. I was comparing her to some of my old Barbies that have jointed waists and less realistic body shape. Is that the Shani body you mention?
