Hi, I am not 100% sure but I dont think he newer issue actualy has curly hair, From what I have gathered they just redid the hair and curled the ends of the hair under like it was supposed to be in the first place!! TTYS Kevin
Oh, well, that's a relief. I don't keep up with the concerns collectors have with dolls, so I gather there must've been some disappointment collectors had with the first issue's hair not being more turned under? I guess it really doesn't matter all that much so long as the doll's hair doesn't look like it's curled to the point of looking a Shirley Temple do. Thanks for the enlightenment. Thanks for the immediate link to the auction site. Judging by what I saw, the doll and the illustration on the box have the same "loose" pageboy so I still can't get a handle on why or what's the need for the so-called curly look at all. Interesting thread as I have just received this doll as a holiday gift. Something definitely doesn't look "copastetic" about her 'do. Is this one of the dolls that Mattel was replacing heads for if collectors were unhappy. Maybe it just got squished in shipping, but something about the hair isn't right. Also, I've lost Leanne V. email addy. Can someone kindly send it to me or ask her to get in touch with me--nothings wrong just want to say hi. And by the way HI TO EVERYONE, I've been away due to illness but I'm back now. May we all have a safe and Happy New Years! Hugs, CarolM/Queendiva/lpsnhps@cybernex.net

I think I heard that they were & wondered why?! Glad you are better & back to chatting. As for Leanne, try barbiebrat@home.com. It may be an old one, but it may be valid. Melissa

I did a minimum of research and found a blurb at Sandi Holder's site that collectors had not been happy with the first issue and tha "Mattel does listen to its customers." I guess the hair is straighter and longer and doesn't look like the pageboy that an orignal bendleg Barbie would've had. And the vintage dos definitely had a tighter curl on the ends than what the repro has. But clever Candi makeover artists should have no problem getting the look they would want out of this doll, if not satisfied with the first issue's look. Unfortunately, just extra work... ----- Original Message ----- From: Bradford ebradfrd@crosslink.net To: Queen Diva lpsnhps@cybernex.net; Pat Brown nqsqurtz@staffnet.com; CandiChat candichat@dolls.de Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 11:00 AM Subject: Re: Need to find non-Candi doll

Hi ya'll, Just wonderin if any of you who wrote BB about Candi ever got a response from Barbie Bazaar? I haven't. I really hope they will do a write on Candi, especially after all of Integrity's hard work!!
However I DID hear back from Beth Owens, very nice lady. But she regretfully informed me that she no longer writes for doll reader, so I guess we'll have to write Doll Reader directly? She told me that she would have liked to do a write up on Candi now that the whole Paul David thing is over. Paul David was horrible to her back when she wrote the article I can't blame her for being upset! But like everyone Beth is happy that Paul has gone away (and hopefully stay away) from our favorite Gal CANDI!
