Hi All, Glad you got a kick out of my pics. I know that in the spring I have to set up my fountain at the same time I put my tomatoes out, because if I don't the racoons knock over my wall of waters I put around the tomaotoes to keep them warm. I long since gave up planting corn, because we never get any of it. LOL We don't have a lot of problem with racoons and rabies around here. The animals it shows up in the most here are prairie dogs. Mostly it is a problem if you have another animal ( dog or cat) that tangles with them. I know better than to tease a racoon. They can be really mean. Beleive me the pics were taken with a zoom!
Pat, I know what you mean about living amongst the wildlife. Because we are so close to the foothills, many people live in that area. We have coyotes, foxes and even mountain lions. The coyotes mostly pick on dogs and cats, but people have to remember who was here first. I have never heard of a coyote picking on a human ( although the farmers swear they get their cows!), but we did have a case about 3 years ago where a 3 year old toddler dissapeared on a day hike in the mountains. They just found his body this spring and ruled that he had been killed by a mountain lion. Very scary! I do not let Grayson out of my sight when we hike. We also have a problem with deer sometimes. My friend Deb, gets her plants eaten by deer all the time, and she is right in the middle of town. We have 2 main rivers that run through the town and create a wild life corridor that allows the animals to get to the plains, but they do pass through town. Right now they are talking about development along one of them. Luckily many people are fighting it, and I hope it doesn't go through. I am near that river and that is why the coons are in my area. I am pretty much in the middle of town too. Well, they weren't back this morning. So I guess I have to go clean the fountain. LOL
