IMHO records with no fields are valid in EP (so fjf972.pas is valid in EP mode). Namely, in 6.4.3.4 (at the end of page 32) we have:
A field-list containing neither a fixed-part nor a variant-part shall have no components, shall determine a single value-bearing state bearing a null value, shall be designated empty, and shall denote the totally-undefined initial state.
I take it as an explicit permission to have empty records.
I recall the original Pascal test suite specifically testing for empty records, and complaining about the foolishness of it. -- "I support the Red Sox and any team that beats the Yankees" "Any baby snookums can be a Yankee fan, it takes real moral fiber to be a Red Sox fan" - "I listened to Toronto come back from 3:0 in '42, I watched Boston come back from 3:0 in '04"
