Typecasting

Hello , Is typecasting like MyType(Myvar); not allowed? How do i do something like the following? ------------------------------------- p:pointer; mytype=record ..... end; with mytype(p^) do begin ..... end; ----------------------------------------- Here i cannot use another temporary variable also.
