This is the first chance I have had to write, my husband passed away on Sunday Morning at 7:00 A. M. He had emphysema for approximately 12 years, however, we lived our lives day day, never dwelling on his illness, never feeling sorry for ourselves. We felt each day was a gift. Jason just told me about this doll last night. She is identical to the Swedish in the International line, except for the hair color. Normally a run of 250 is required for any limited edition but the request for a special doll for their event came in during the production of the Swedish and an exception was made by the factory in this case. Getting the desired quality and a reasonable price point was a task but with the collective efforts of Jason, Integrity, Katy and myself, I think you will be most pleased with the final product. Although I am sorry to hear that you missed your trip, Pat, I understand the need to be surrounded by family and friends. My daughter in Hawaii called me just because she needed to talk to her mommy. Funny how adult children with children of their own revert to the need for mommy when faced with an overwhelming problem. I am filled with sadness & anger, but not fear, because of the recent terrorists attacks...as I'm sure you are. No I didn't get to go on my trip as the airlines aren't flying, but I really don't care ...I want to be surrounded by family & friends as some will never be, thanks to a few people who have managed to cause terror & heartbreak not only to our nation but the whole world. My DIL , Theresa, subscribes to a neat household hint site called the Flylady.net. In the past few … [View More]days she has given us these hints on how to get thru these days. I myself, released much anger today as I weeded the heck out of my yard & flower beds. Take that ! I said to some unknown enemy as I tore the hateful weed out by it's roots...I did this until I exhausted myself...but I kicked butt, if only on the weeds. Pat H. the following , from the Flylady, is directed toward women & is long but all may find some help in it. The last part is about prayer..if that offends you , just skip that that part. Dear Friends, In the past, during times of difficulty (death, illness or disaster) we have tended to let our lives fall apart. The reason that this happened to our families is that we had no foundation of routines. At this time, it is very important that we get a handle on our feelings. Yes we are all sad and afraid. It is up to us to set a tone of calm in our homes. We can do this by keeping your routines in place. Even small routines can give us stability when we are under stress. Over years of world history, women have always kept the home fires burning. Things are no different now. This is not meant as a sexist remark; it is a fact. We are powerful in our own right. We cannot allow this terrible news and the events of the day to play havoc with our way of life. Keep in mind that laundry still has to be done, babies need to be fed and homes need to be taken care of. I know that you are glued to the TV, one member sets her timer for 15 minutes so she can watch the news and then she gets up and does things around the house while listening to the reports. Don't forget to turn it off for 15 minutes so you can let your mind rest. I want you to promise me that you will take care of yourself. This means getting plenty of rest and eating properly. You cannot afford to get sick at this time. Be aware that the continual bombardment by the news media is hard on our immune system. During the Gulf war coverage, there was an outbreak of upper respiratory infections. I have read this in Women's Bodies, Women Wisdom. We know how hard we internalize things. Please, please be good to yourself. Turn off the coverage and listen to some music, read a book or just spend quiet time in prayer and meditation. None of us will ever forget where we were when we first heard the news of this awful attack. Continue to pray. At this time your routines will become a comfort to you and your family. You don't even have to think; you will go through the motions without any effort. You all need a great big hug! {{{Hugs}}} Love you! I wish I could physically give each and every one of you, one of my hugs. I have been told that I give good hugs. It is one of those Momma Bear hugs that doesn't want to let go. So close your eyes for a few minutes and consider yourself hugged this morning. Oh yes, I usually have tears running down my face when I do it. Don't ask me why? Last night as I snuggled into my warm bed, I prayed for God to give me the words that would give you strength and security to start your day. So here are the Mid-Night Editor's God Breezes. The terrorists were mistaken! They thought they had attacked the foundation of our society; financial symbol (the World Trade Towers) and our security (the Pentagon). People worked in those places, they did important jobs, but those jobs do not make up our society any more than a building represents who we are and what we believe. Buildings are brick and mortar, steel and concrete! We know that those foundations can crumble and along with them, the lives of innocent people who were trying to do their jobs. My heart goes out to those families that have lost loved ones in the cowardice act that was inflicted upon our country. Our security and strength comes from within the walls of our homes. Each and every one of you is part of this foundation. When they attack one of us, they are attacking all. They can only succeed if we let them infiltrate our families with fear. Now I want you to listen closely. Our country was founded on freedom and trust in God. It is up to us to create a safe haven of calm within the boundaries of our homes. Our people are our foundation. When they come home, they need the peace that comes when you walk through your door. You need this too. As Robert and I talked before going to sleep, he gave me a paraphrased quote from one of our First Ladies during time of war. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are!" He was not for certain who said it, but it seemed to be the perfect theme to ponder as I slept. We all want to give assistance in some way to the people in New York and Washington. For those of us that do not live there, all we can do is give blood and pray, Now listen! If your house is not in order, the best thing you can do is to start in your own home. We have to keep the home fires burning. Go get dressed to shoes. Fix your hair and face! Don't question me on this! Just do it because I have told you to, if that is all the strength you can muster. This is a great start. Think about and then start something for supper. Get that out of the way. Eat something and drink your water. Also take your vitamins and other medications. Turn off the TV for a while each hour. Set a timer to remember to do this: At 15 minutes before the hour, let's all turn off the TV for a quiet time and prayer. Keep up with your laundry. Your babies still need clean clothes. Do simple routines! Take care of yourself. I know that many of you are sad and this sadness can overtake your being if you let it. I want you to turn this sadness into constructive anger. I do not want you to internalize this rage. Women tend to do this. They let their anger and frustration well up inside and this turns into overwhelming sadness. We all have known about this depression. In order keep us from falling back into that deep hole, I want you to release this internal rage in small bits, or shall I say baby steps. Make up your bed and fluff up that pillow rather vigorously, clear out a hot spot and clean out a closet. Don't be idle. For the last 10 days we have all been clearing clutter from our homes. Continue your quest for peace by releasing your clutter. Direct your anger at the clutter and don't turn it in on yourself. Clutter is affecting the peace in your home. Please let go of it and make your homes for a safe haven. I love you all and want the peace that I have found. It all starts with you and your home......... ................................................ I asked for your prayers and guidance. You are all such wonderful and spiritual people and through your suggestions, I have found a way to pray Here are some Prayer tips that worked for you. I. Set the atmosphere for prayer. A. Play spiritual music on the stereo B. Sing C. Find your quiet place and pray there II. Make yourself right with God first. A. Confess your sins B. Confess why you are having a hard time praying 1. He already knows, he want you to hear it. 2. Be honest and spill your heart C. Pray for wisdom and insight D. Ask others to pray for you E. Ask someone to pray with you at first III. It is your duty to pray for your enemy. A. Read a scripture to help 1. Ephesians 3:14-21 2. Proverbs 16:1-7. 3. Proverbs 25:21 & 22. 4. Matthew 6:14 5. Romans 12:14 B. Look at what Jesus did when he was being mistreated 1. Matthew 26:36-75 2. Mark 14:43-72 3. Luke 22:47-71 4. John 19 C. You can do this IV. Put this person in prospective A. See them as a little child B. See them as a child of God C. Remember they are only flesh and blood too D. Satan is after them as well V. Start simply A. Asked God to Bless their heart B. Thank God for the Good that is in this person C. Do this even if you don't believe it. D. Ask God for blessings that you would ask for yourself E. Write down a simple prayer and read it F. Substitute their name in the blanks. G. VI. Reasons to pray. A. It will do you more good than the person you are praying for 1. You will release the anger 2. It will help you sleep at night. 3. You will not have bad feelings eating away at you. 4. You will not be sinning. 5. Unforgiveness (God gave me a picture once of unforgiveness. It is like a woman in full labor, in lots of pain ,that closes her legs and says," No! I am not going to give birth". She can rid herself of the pain but chooses not to. It is a choice for you to carry this burden.) {this is from a member}I loved it. We can all understand this C. You will be blessed 1. Your burden will be lifted 2. God can and will change their heart 3. If not he will take your vengeance (coals of fire) a. Don't pray for this reason b. or you will not be blessed VII. Example of simple prayers. A. Ask God to melt their heart of stone B. Bless thier heart, Bless their heart C. Heavenly Father, you are all knowing and all wise. I am just a human and do not understand everything that happens. Please give me guidance to deal with these unknown heartless people Help me to know what I should be doing.Father, give them the wisdom to do what is right. Help them to remember that we are all your children and that you want us to love one another and treat each others with love. Give them your loving guidance in all they do. Every time you have a bad thought about them Say a pray for them right then and there This will help you to realize, and control your thoughts Set a specific time to pray for them I hope these wonderful suggestions have helped you as much as they have helped me. I never knew when I started this list that I was going to be dealing with these kind of issues. I knew that I was spiritual, but never thought of myself as a person that would be able to share a testimony like this one. Thank you Susanne for sending your hopes and prayers to us. I will never understand why innocent people are singled out to die to make a political statement. In this case the attackers really are cowards, imo. They are even too afraid to stand up and take responsibility for their actions. What cause could that possibly further?
