GRX Maintainer

Hi, I've noticed that there a request for GRX maintainers, and my name has been mentioned. Well, that would certainly please me, but right now it's absolutely impossible. - My schedule is so tight that I simply haven't free time, and I'd like to see my two kids from time to time :-) - I'm using GRX for an embedded product, and my development tools and hardware platform are so specific that I can't imagine how could I manage with the different configurations supported by GRX. (By the way, Hartmut, how do you do this?) All I can do for the moment is, for every bug I found (there are not many) try to track it down, and send the patch. On the other hand, I hope to release the product in about two months. Then the situation can change. Josu Onandia Off topic: I need a Chinese font for GRX. Can anybody give me a clue? Thanks

It works perfectly. But now I've run into another problem: I'm applying the pixmap to a SubContext, not to the whole screen. It seems that the function GrPatternFilledBox doesn´t take this into account, and starts painting at left corner of the screen, not of the SubContext. I suspect that the line (file patfbox.c, function GrPatternFilledBox): (*bltfun)( &CURC->gc_frame,xpos,y1, &p->gp_pxp_source,xcuroff,yoff,fillw,fillh, p->gp_pxp_oper ); should be: (*bltfun)( &CURC->gc_frame, xpos+CURC->gc_xoffset, //adding the subcontext offset y1+CURC->gc_yoffset, //adding the subcontext offset &p->gp_pxp_source,xcuroff,yoff,fillw,fillh, p->gp_pxp_oper ); I've implemented the change, and it works. Buffered input with GRX? - not conio.h

Any way of doing buffered, echoed-to-screen keyboard input within GRX, or with a GRX-compatible library (i.e. not using libc/conio.h, as it doesn't recognise unusual screen resolutions)? Functionality along the lines of GrStringXY(char *buffer, int x, int y, GrColor fg, GrColor bg) would be useful but not essential. J-P Stacey

4 bpp mode

Hi, Does Grx support 4 bpp packed mode? (that is, only one plane, two pixels packed in each byte). I need this mode for in-memory drawing. The 8bpp mode (GrFrameDriverRAM8, ram8.c) is OK, but the 4bpp (GrFrameDriverRAM4, ram4.c) splits the pixels into 4 planes. Help and suggestions are wellcomed. Josu Onandia

Hi, For that purpose I'm using the function GrBitBlt. GrContext *pPic; int w = x2 - x1 + 1; int h = y2 - y1 + 1; // Create a context in memory pPic = GrCreateContext(w, h, NULL, NULL); // Save the on-screen rectangle if(pPic != NULL) GrBitBlt(pPic, 0, 0, NULL, x1, y1, x2, y2, GrWRITE); // ... overwrite the screen // Restore the rectangle if(pPic != NULL) GrBitBlt(NULL, x1, y1, pPic, 0, 0, w, h, GrWRITE); // And release the memory GrDestroyContext(pPic); This works fine for me. Contexts and saving bits of the screen

Hi, I am trying to implement rather basic "sprites" in GRX (not so complicated that I want to proceed to e.g. Allegro). To this end I'd like to write over, but then *retrieve*, bits of graphics on the screen. Essentially, I would like a filled box to be drawn on existing screen content, but the existing content to be "saved" somehow and put back on the screen (analogous to conio.h's puttext() and gettext() functions) once the filled box is no longer necessary. I was hoping perhaps to use GrContexts and GetImageFromContext() for this, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. My first few attempts resulted in seg-faults. What is the name of the "default context" that GrSetMode() sets up? Just a routine that buffers the screen content of the box (x1,y1,x2,y2) would help. Any help gratefully received. J-P Stacey

Dear Sirs, My name is Theodore. I'm from Ukrainian State Maritime Technical University. I'm looking for excelent maltiplatform graphics library for students which would not use windowing APIs and accessed computer's video hardware directly. I found GRX in the Internet. I like it very much. Unfortunately ... I tried to compile GRX 2.3 with MinGW32 but 'make' told me that this version of 'gcc' cannot run GRX. How to prepare source code to 'make' the GRX library with MinGW32 2.95? SY, Theodore V. Tolstoy, USMTU, Nikolaev, Ukraine.
