With SVGALib, not with X11, correct? If so, did you try the X11 version?

With X11 it works fine but not with SVGALib which is what I am interested in.

If not so, try playing with the color depth; there are some known problems with some depths ...

What is this suppose to be? Well as said earlier I am not using GRX for any serious programming. I just want the mousetest program which comes with GRX pachake to run.
