using C routines in pascal

Hello all, Is someone could help me about using C routines in pascal? I think I am close to the right solution but I can't manage to get it!... So I will try to summurize all I made until now... At first, I have downloaded randlibc-1.3.tar.gz. After having unpacked this file, a randlib.c directory was created and it contains: HOWTOGET* README* doc/ src/ test/ In src, I have compiled com.c, linpack.c and randlib.c and put them in a library lirandlib.a Then, I have move librandlib.a into /usr/local/lib and randlib.h in /usr/local/include. Actually, I would like to use a fonction named "genbet" in the randlib.c. For that, I have made a little program beta.pas: unit beta; interface {$L /usr/local/include/randlib.h} function genbet(x,y:shortreal):shortreal;C; implementation end. and test.pas: uses beta; begin writeln(genbet(100,150)); end. When I compile the first one, the following message appears: Undefined first referenced symbol in file main /usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.7/ 2.95.2/crt1.o ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to beta collect2: ld returned 1 exit status And for the second one: test.p:4: object file `/usr/local/include/randlib.o' not found test.p:4: object file `/usr/local/include/randlib.o' not found "extern float genbet(float aa,float bb)" is in randlib.h and the program is written in randlib.c. For a quick fix, you can try inserting the line: #undef HAVE_LLSEEK into rts/rts.h, after the line: #include "rts-config.h" This will disable 64 bit file access, until we can do this right. using c++ libraries in pascal (NEWBIE)

Hello, I am new to this list, so "HELLO TO EVERYBODY" About my programming subject: I am investigating for a small naval architectural bureau, If they can port their DOS/WIN pascal programs to linux. I am a student of naval architecture with small programming experience under Pascal and C++. The company also asked me to have a look at GUI toolkits and write a graphical subsystem for their pascal program. I would like to use QT for this purpose. I made some small tests already, and found out that the compatibility with GPC and Prospero extended pascal is sufficient (small problems). My problem is that I can not use a c++ library in my pascal program. For C everything works allright, but as soon as I compile with g++ I get errors. I also noticed that the assembler output of the compiler is different when compiling C or C++ sources. I tried compiling with gpc -x, etc. Still I run into problems. I use gpc based on egcs 1.1.2 as well as based on gcc 2.95.2 (on two different pc's). Attached is a small, very dumb test program, partially stolen from the excellent info pages of gpc. It consists of two files: add_one.c and test.pas test.pas is the program; it writes the number five, and lets the function number_pp add one (+1) to the number. It then displays number again. I compiled it in several ways, of which this one is the simplest: gcc -c add_one.c gpc -o test test.pas add_one.o If the first line is replaced with: g++ -c add_one.c line number two fails linking. Does anybody have an idea of how to use c++ libraries in pascal? Help is very much appreciated. Greetings, Menno Schaap

Problem with ncurses 5.0

We have some software written in gpc that uses ncurses and panel for screen output. Mainly for historical reasons we have our own GPC to C interface unit. All this worked at RedHat Linux 6.1. We have recently upgraded to RedHat 6.2 and it no longer works. The cursor sits somewhere in the bottom line of the screen (which is defined as a panel of height 1 line). The change that I suspect is significant between RedHat 6.1 and RedHat 6.2 is that 6.1 used ncurses 4.2 and 6.2 uses ncurses 5.0. I am afraid my knowledge of C is pretty much zero. However by using diff on the header files I only see one change that looks as though it might matter. In panel.h from ncurses 4.2 the definition is: extern PANEL *new_panel(WINDOW *) the corresponding ncurses 5.0 definition is extern PANEL* new_panel(WINDOW *) Our interface unit has function new_panel(win:WINDOW_PTR):PANEL_PTR; C_language; Is this correct for ncurses 5.0? callow, GPC unit !
