Relationship between GPC and GCC on Linux (Compiling)

Hello. I am new to this list and to GPC. I have just downloaded latest GPC beta sources. I am going to build RPM packages from it (I was not able to find one) for RedHat Linux 6.0, which comes with EGCS 1.1.2 (egcs-2.91.66). 1. As there is not a patch for this version of EGCS in the GPC distribution, I decided to compile with the latest GCC (2.8.1). There is or will be patches for EGCS 1.1.2? 2. The compilation goes smoothly. Installation too. But should I keep the files /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.8.1/{libgcc.a,spec} or they can be safely removed (and then GPC uses the ones from the EGCS installation)? Thanks. GNU Binary for SGI

Hi, I've downloaded the binary beta "gpc-19990118_mips-sgi-irix6_2_tar.gz" from ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/beta/binary/, as I'm not really familiar with unix. It should run on a SGI, Power-Challenge-XL12 with IRIX64 v6.2. GCC v2.7 is already installed. The environmental variable GPC_EXEC_PREFIX does not seem to work, setting the dir with -B as a command option helps. By compiling a little test program (no uses etc) a fatal error occured: ld32: FATAL 9: I/O error (-lgpc): No such file or directory I've copied the files from /gpc/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/mips-sgi-irix6.2/2.8.1 into the bin-dir, but it doesn't helped. Can anyone help or had made experiences with this version? Hi changed motherboard from 486 to k6-2/400 changed system tosuse linux 6.0 now crtc.c won't compile: "environ" undeclared unisted.h is in /usr/include any ideas? thanks, Russ

Hi all, I have found a couple of bugs after downloading this last version 1) A minor one, already present in the previous beta (january): the specs file is not correct. It seems to be the one used to cross-compile to DOS in your system. The correct one is contained in the gcc2.8.1 distribution of djgpp v2.02 and I have attached it for reference. 2) more serious a new bug (not present in the previous beta) has popped up in the automake process. It occurs when an unit is referred to both directly in the program and indirectly in an other unit as in the following example: ----------------------------------------- file bug.pas ----------------------------------------- program bug; uses u,uu; begin writeln(O,K); end. ------------------------------------------ file u.pas ------------------------------------------ unit u; interface uses uu; var O:string[2] = 'O'; implementation end. ---------------------------------------- file uu.pas ---------------------------------------- unit uu; interface var K: string[2] = 'K'; implementation end. ------------------------------------- compiled with redir -o bug.out -eo gpc -v -g --automake -o bug.exe bug.pas gives the attached bug.out file The error is in the link stage. The files u.o and uu.o are not included in the ld command (as they were in the previous beta). two problems with gpc, PLEASE HELP ME!!

I use gpc to make practics, in a asignature in the university of =coruña, and the program must run in a solaris machine, with gpc 2.0. I have in my house linux, rh 5.2 with gpc 2.0, and last year in the =university i use sun pascal, to make the practicas and i have a module =to manipulate screen, but now don't work in gpc: procedure CursorXY( x:integer; y:integer); begin write( chr(27), '[', y:0, ';', x:0, 'f'); end; this procedure to put cursor in coordinates xy, dont work on gpc. i need somthing that make this. this other to clear te screen work perfectly: procedure ClearScreen; begin write( chr(27), '[2J'); end; can anybody help me!!! the other problem, is that i use xxgdb to debug pascal programs but when =i wnat to inspect the vaule of a var, i need to write display <var> with =te first letter capitalized, but if i click in the var don't work, no =solution i found to this problem,

Greetings, I unpacked gpc-19990118.i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1.tar.gz, distributed the files and now I can't compile anything at all. I have the same problem that was reported in January 1998 I am having trouble with GPC 971001 on my RedHat linux box.
