I am just writing an announcement for the next official release of GNU
Pascal (to be released as soon as some administrative stuff is done),
so I could write that piece, too. When I have a draft, I will post it
to the GPC list, so we can improve it …
[View More]together. Okay?

We could use an item on GNU Pascal for the Forthcoming GNUs column in
the next bulletin. Would someone on this list care to write a short
piece, or forward this request to someone who could do it?

The new binaries plus source can be downloaded from
ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/home/janjaap/djgpp
I included the latest rhide testrelease, which allows stepping, watching
etc, this should be a big plus for all of you who are familiar with
something called …

Enjoy,

Try to run the gpc-1.2-2.7.2 pre-release EMX binary, …
[View More]compiled for
emx09b, ftp://kampi.hut.fi/jtv/gnu-pascal/gpc-2.7.2/emx/gpcdev.zip,

It should install just like the other EMX binary distributions.
In case you encounter any problems please let us (gpc(a)hut.fi) know,
because we want to fix all these problems prior to the final 2.7.2
release.
(* BTW: Thanks for advertising for GPC in the EMX list. ;*)

Hi,
I suppose I'll be installing emx09c + XFree soon but I also rely on
gpc and g77 on OS/2, which work beautifully with emx09b so far.
(Thanks to all the dudes involved, esp. EM, Peter Gerwinski, and Michael
Holzapfel!)
Now my question -- which and where are the latest, emx09c compiled
or at least compatible/approved os/2 versions of g77-0.5.18 and gpc?
URL or ftp description with file size/date information would be much
appreciated.
Anything else I need to know before installing (it'll …
[View More]probably go right
on a Warp 4 system)? Cheers.
Cheers! Hm, said that already .... Stefan

Hello,
Sorry, somehow a buglet I thought I'd squashed has raised it's ugly head
again in gpc-961112. Don't bother downloading -- it won't work. I'll remove it.

Hello folks,
I upgraded my djgpp setup to v2.01 and rebuilt GPC for this setup. This time
I checked whether no files are missing from the binary distribution, let me
know if you still have problems. FAQ and short installation instructions are
included.
Everything available at ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/home/janjaap/djgpp/
I also uploaded a development snapshot of RHIDE which can do stepping,
tracing etc. with GPC. PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THIS FILE !!!! It's meant to
be a demo of …
[View More]things to come, I don't do RHIDE so I can't help you if it
doesn't work for you.

I have not tried this, but this topic is discussed frequently in the djgpp
newsgroup. I suggest you search the djgpp mailinglist archives at
http://www.delorie.com with keywords like "vesa" and "linear" and search
game related djgpp links such as:
http://www.rt66.com/~brennan/djgpp/
I know http://www.rt66.com/~brennan/djgpp/vbe.zip is a small example source
of how to get at VBE 2.0 linear framebuffers, with both near and far pointers.
You'll have to convert it to Pascal yourself.
The VBE 2.0 spec is online at ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/devel/vbe20-11.exe
Hope this helps,
JanJaap

i just try and try but cannot access the frame buffer memory located at
0xe0000000 (page fault).
the mode gets initialized correctly and definitely provides this frame
buffer (also switches off access mode via 0xa000 realmodesegment).
i'd be very glad if there were some example sourcecodes out there ;)

It should not be, but please describe more exactly what you tried
and what happened. The best thing is to post the smallest extract
of your code which still triggers the error.
And: Which GPC version are you using?
