The below patch adds --gpc-rts=-trap-on-error (aka --gpc-rts=-t) to the gpc runtime lib. This is done by directly emitting assembly code, just like TrapError does in the diff. However, I can't test sparc and ia-64, so something similar has not (yet) been implemented. I did implement a workaround for __i386__ where __builtin_trap emits int5 instead of int3 (or at least that is what it does on i386-apple-darwin and that is what i386.md describes in gcc-3.4.5). In order to make the Pascal interface to ncurses work on all GPC systems, I have developed a configuration program that substitutes the few types that are not taken care of at the gnu Pascal source code level. I'm also hoping this will make it general enough to include in the gnu Pascal distribution. I have only one type of computer running gnu pascal (Mac OSX), so it would be helpful if a couple of those on the list try configuring this and report problems. A .tar.gz file of sources is attached. This is NOT the full ncurses.pas package. I'm just asking for reports on whether the configuration process works on different gpc platforms. If you want the full ncurses, wait a few weeks for one incorporating this configuration, or get the limited-platform version now at: http://www.microbizz.nl/gpc.html A simple test (extracted from the ncurses.configure.txt document) is: ---------- First, unpack the ncurses-gpc archive, using a command like: $ tar -zx <ncurses-gpc-20051218.tar.gz Second, from within the directory that the archive was unpacked into, run configure: $ configure (Ignore the: "198: warning: identifiers should not start with an underscore") Test that ncurses.pas has a valid type definition for chtype: $ grep ' chtype =' ncurses.pas And test that the version in ncurses.pas corresponds to your installed ncurses: $ grep NCURSES_VERSION ncurses.pas ------------- If problems, look first at ncurses.configure.txt. When building a cross compiler we have _two_ sets of predefined symbols: one for host machine and one for target. During compilation _all_ normal symbols predefined by i386-linux compiler are active. So, the test for __I386__ will succeed regardless of the target and the test for _ARCH_PPC will fail regardless of the target. There is a separte set of predefines to describe the target machine, which sould be used in compiler sources. Look at the following snippet from rs6000-c.c: if (TARGET_POWERPC) builtin_define ("_ARCH_PPC"); The snippet shows that if _during build_ the symbol TARGET_POWERPC is defined then the running compiler will define _ARCH_PPC. For those intererested, here is some information on building gpc-20051104 with gcc-3.4.4 on i686-apple-darwin8. We need to build and install the right versions of sed, help2man, flex and bison first, but this has been discussed before (<http://www.gnu-pascal.de/crystal/gpc/en/thread11480.html>). Note that bison 2.1 is now needed (<http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/bison/>). Then, we need patches to gcc-3.4.4. 1. I have put a new gpc snapshot at: http://www.math.uni.wroc.pl/~hebisch/gpc/gpc-20051116.tar.bz2 This snapshot has integrated preprocessor. This should solve problems with (lack of) predefined symbols when using 3.3.x and 3.4.x backends. The preprocessor is just integrated -- inside it is the same preprocessor as before. There is new `--preprocessed' option, but the change is intended to be as compatible as possible. Still, the code to handle command line changed, so there may be some unintended change. Also, there is no gpcpp executable anymore (use gpc -E as preprocessor).
