All that just to avoid setting GPC_EXEC_PREFIX? And having to repeat it each time Cygnus bumps the dash number? No thanks, I believe that I prefer my "broken" installation! :-)
Cygwin is supposed to be a "unix under Windows" thing. As such, it makes plenty of sense to use the standard unix directory structures, else things will break.
Sorry, I was speaking here of native Windows (Mingw).
