I didn't say "only" but pointed out that it's a major motiviation for individuell persons ("one") and this is what I experienced in >15 years of free software and OSS development.
Since I'm currently in a parsing mindset, I have to point out that "must" in English implies a necessary condition, even without adding "only" (actually, "one must only ..." would mean something quite different).
Furthermore, "one" *can* be understood to refer to any person or group, not only individual persons (like in German: "man"), and I also understood it this way.
