I have downloaded the yesterday evening (14/05/97 23:..) modified version of alpha gpc-970510 for DJGPP v2.1 (zip file). The link problem is solved but the standalone info problem remains.

I can read (gpc)Top with Rhide 1.2 but the standalone info barks no Top node. Looking to what could be anomalous in gpc.inf I have found they the last line of this file

End Tag Table

is repeated twice. I have used a UNIX-format editor to eliminate the second spurious line. With this modification standalone info (as well as with Rhide 1.2) no more complains. I cannot understand why.

For the origin of this spurious duplication I have an hint: When Rhide finds an .inf file in DOS format (return/ line feed), it sometimes barks: File in Dos Format, and translate it into Unix format (linefeed alone). I have done the following when trying to understand the problem: I have translated gpc.inf (and gpc.i?) into DOS format, started Rhide which have barked, and have found when exiting that the files where again in Unix format, but with the last line repeated three times !!! I cannot understand the logic of that, because my gcc.inf are in DOS format and Rhide does not complain, and for exemple gpc.inf (now after the last modification), bison.inf and others are in unix format: only Robert can say what he does exactly to recognize the format and to change it.
