According to Victor Sperber:
I wanted to get Pascal from the GNU. Not being sufficiently knowledgeable to get the source and compile it, I opted for getting the binaries.
In fact you need Linux to compile GPC for Windows 95/NT ...
I read the GNU Pascal FAQS and brought over cygwin32 beta16 (and later 17) and expanded them in order to run Pascal under Windows95. However on running gpc.exe I get "a required DLL file CYGWIN.DLL was not found". This is the case on the 16 and 17 packages. Is there something I need to do to get Pascal to run apart from executing it?
I am not an expert for Windows issues, but you might find relevant files and additional information at
ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/home/janjaap/cygwin32/
I have searched my disk and it is true that there is no such DLL. Should it come with binaries in the package, or do I have to get it from somewhere else?
You can get it from
Make sure that the CygWin beta version number matches that one specified in the GPC distribution because different versions are completely incompatible.
(* If everything else fails, you can use the DOS (DJGPP or EMX) version of GPC in your Windows DOS box; see the GPC home page http://home.pages.de/~GNU-Pascal/ for more information. *)
Hope this helps,
