I;ve been trying to build gpc from the alpha sources. I downloaded gpc-980405 today and get an error when it tries to build libgpc.a. Here is the error:

Anyone have a clue how to fix it?
(At least this is a different error that I got trying the gpc-980330 version!)

That's a bug in the AutoMake mechanism: It looks for `gpc' in order to call it recursively, but doesn't find it because there is only an `xgpc'.
To work around, try with a symbolic link "gpc -> xgpc" in `/usr/local/gcc/gcc-2.8.0'.
(At least this is a different error that I got trying the gpc-980330 version!)

Thanks - I had to put the link in /usr/bin for the system to find it. Perhaps someone should make a note in the alpha README file?
