Hello, I tried to download the GPC version 'gpc-20010423_tar.gz' which was successful. But while trying to unpapack it with command Gunzip gpc-20010423_tar.gz an error message is seen :' INVALID COMPRESSED DATA - FORMAT VIOLATED'. Could you please help me out.

On SuSE 6.3 with gunzip 1.2.4 (18 Aug 93) I could not verify your problem after downloading gpc-20010423.tar.gz from: ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/current/ and then typing gunzip -c name.tar.gz gpc-20010423.tar.gz | tar -xvf - <RET> produced dir gpc-20010423, wich contais dir p etc.

Probably he downloaded with Netscape. Netscape auto decompresses .gz files, so probably what he has now is a tarball file, not a gzipped tarball.
