Good idea. Perhaps the following:

Why shouldn't I just grab and install a binary?

Perhaps mention that this mostly applies to Linux/Unix. (Unix systems other than Linux are often administered by a trained administrator who will want to install from the sources, anyway.)

For Dos (DJGPP) and MS-Windows systems, it's usually much easier to grab and install a binary.
