Hi!
I am new in using Linux and I'd like to install gnu pascal. I start with following the instructions but I felt at the step 2 of the install file.
I've tried %./configure or ../gcc-2.8.1/configure but nothing happens... More exactely, a message appears but I don't remember the text at the moment.
Either I forgot to do something or I need to download another file because I've just downloaded gpc-19990118.tar.gz, gcc-2.8.1.tar.gz and gcc-2.8.0-2.8.1.diff.gz?
Maybe someone could help me,
Thanks a lot in advance,
Nathalie

Arrggh. How we can help you if you did not explained what was done and what went wrong ?

Last file is not needed. But FAR BETTER is to use latest ALPHA version and gcc 2.95.2 ...
Maybe someone could help me,
Not with SUCH bug report.
P.S. To Frank & Peter: may be we should put BIG message with link to http://freshmeat.net/news/2000/02/26/951627540.html somewhere in FAQ ? It's REALLY must be read by anyone who ask for help...
Hi, Nathalie Jarosz,

What about installing a binary distribution instead of compiling GPC by yourself? You can find them at ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/beta/binary/ .
I've tried %./configure or ../gcc-2.8.1/configure but nothing happens... More exactely, a message appears but I don't remember the text at the moment.
As others already pointed out, we cannot help you without some more exact information.
Either I forgot to do something or I need to download another file because I've just downloaded gpc-19990118.tar.gz, gcc-2.8.1.tar.gz and gcc-2.8.0-2.8.1.diff.gz?
You can also try a more recent (alpha) version from ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/beta/alpha/ which works with gcc-2.95.1.
Hope this helps,
Peter

Of course, the correct URL is:
ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/alpha/
