What about seting the version to 2.0.9 then change the version to 2.0.10,
2.0.11 etc. until 2.1.0 is ready.

We can release it is 2.1.0 when it is ready. Then we can fix it
to work with DJGPP 2.8.1 and release 2.1.1.
