Actually, Peter is already working on changes to the set handling code, and these routines will be part of the changes. As Peter said, such a routine is not really necessary in GPC because GPC files do their own buffer management. But I will add a do-nothing SetTextBuf procedure to the System unit. BTW, the reason why I missed it was that I looked through BP's system.pas pseudo-unit to see what was missing, and for some reason they call the procedure `BufferText' there, so I didn't see SetTextBuf... BP 7.0 compatibility

Hello, I found some information on the official web pages of your project, that the compiler 'completely' supports Borland Pascal syntax. Trying to compile some old BP 7.0 sources with GPC I noticed that the compiler knows nothing about SetTextBuf declared in BP system unit I suppose. Is there any equivalent for that procedure or maybe it is contained in some other unit ? Or maybe the job to make GPC with -fBorlanf-Pascal switch to act like BP on basic stage is not completed ? Just get a current GPC version (beta 19990118 or alpha 19990813) and install either the ncurses library (for Unix system on terminals -- note that ncurses is already installed by default on most Unix systems, including most Linux distributions) or the PDCurses library (for Unix, X11 versions, and for Dos systems). These libraries (source and binaries for some platforms) are available from ftp://agnes.dida.physik.uni-essen.de/gnu-pascal/libs/ Then, just add `uses CRT;' to your program, and don't forget the `--automake' command line parameter. BTW, Random is not part of the CRT unit -- it's built into the compiler in current GPC versions. Hello, I've several questions on Gnu Pascal: I'd like to use the CRT-Unit in Gnu Pascal. How is it possible? The only procedure I need is RANDOM (CLRSCR would be nice too, but isn't necessary). How can I do it? Thanks, Alex

Is it a bug ?

Hi ! I have a problem with gpc on a sun sparc. A simple program like this crashes the compiler (with gpc1 receiving a sig 11) : program foo; begin writeln(round(3.1)) end. Note that round(x) works fine. A debugger told me that in function expand_fix from file optabs.c, GET_MODE (from) was used with from = 0. I then discovered in file p/rts.c that there were differences between how trunc and round were implemented. So I tried to change the "case p_ROUND" in that file. That is I changed retval = fold(build1(... into retval = convert(long_long_integer_type_node, val); And it seems to work ! Could someone explain this to me ? Did I make something wrong ?
