You're talking as if "the FPC folks" is a homogeneous entity with a single opinion. Hint: it's not. Second hint: those with the strongest opinion on a particular subject are likeliest to speak up about it. I don't think anyone's opinion in the FPC team has changed about how they, individually, regard ISO (Extended) Pascal and its relevance.
Anyway, the behaviour was changed, in MacPas mode only, for compatibility reasons. And compatibility is also the same reason for the different behaviour in other modes. It has nothing to do with like or dislike of ISO Pascal.
