Usually I am not a friend of abbreviations, but if there is a consensus that it makes the documentation more readable, I would agree to this and write some notes about these abbreviations for the introduction.
I think at this point it's irrelevant and there can be a search and kill done later if we need to. At any rate, the compatibility list is a *really* good idea. For anyone who knows Pascal at all, these abbreviations are fine.
