gpc I/O & errors

Hello, This is not about a bug, I'm just trying to understand how gpc works. I have some experience--as an amateur, though--with TPW1.5 (MS-Windows) and TP6.0 (MS-DOS), and with SunWorkshop Pascal Compiler 4.2 (SunOS 5.5.1). I'm trying to compile some Pascal code of my own with the GNU Pascal Compiler on a PC running RedHat Linux 4.2. Questions: 1. How do I suspend I/O error messages in order to detect the presence/absence of a file? In Turbo Pascal, one does this as follows: {$I-} reset(file); {$I+} if IOResult <> 0 then... In SunWorkshop Pascal it's a little bit more complicated even if its different. Is there something similar to these in GNU Pascal? 2. Where do I get a list of compile-time and run-time errors? We must not collect just everything written in Pascal; having an overfull and/or badly documented archive is as useless as having no archive at all. As Agnes is devoted to GNU (that's why I have chosen a name containing "gn":-), I would require everything to be free, i.e. available in source code and without restrictions to use it even commercially. And it would be desirable to have everything ported to GNU Pascal. Regular Expression

Hi all! Please excuse me, this is not a mail about GPC in special, but Pascal in general. I'm searching for an regular expression library - I mean something like function pos(SearchPattern;S:string):integer just like BPs build in Pos(SubString,String):integer function. Of course their is Unix-regexp (in C), but if somebody already had done it in Pascal, why do unnecessary work of translation? Beside this, I have the suggestion to build at agnes.dida a little archive of rare plants and vegetables which you seldom find at the net - like Lex/Yacc and maybe some Programming help (but not yet another SWAG mirror). Of course this is Peters decission and I dont know if it would be usefull. It depends, if their are enough good things on the HD of the list members and if we think of the same if I say "rare good tools and docs for Pascal Programming". GNU GUILE...

If anyone is interested, the website where I read information about GNU GUILE is: http://ns.cinfo.ru/linux/WWW/www_gnu.org/software/guile/guile.html The thing that GUILE has in common with my script interpreter other than extensibility is providing an interface so that the user is not restricted to just 1 language. Where the line ends on similarity is in the extent of features. What I'm trying to do is create an interface for programmers that is simple yet can do what is required of it, needs little modification, and allows them to add internals from their program into the script language while at the same time keeping it simple and flexible enough for the common ordinary end-user to modify the behavior of the program. GUILE seems to support file I/O and pointer operations, and is expected to (if it doesn't already) have a facility for system calls and system pipes. Allowing those 3 things could be a security compromise for applications such as a game (most likely others, but I can't think of any right now). It's not to say that GUILE is not worth a look, I'm sure it has its uses. See ya! The GNU compilers also support such a platform-independent "bytecode", and so does UCSD's P-Code and Java's J-Code. Perhaps you should have a look at their specifications first? Those of GCC/GPC are in the source code.
